IMPORTANT POINTS DECIDED

OFFICIAL RATIFICATION NECESSARY.

[From bur Parliamentary Reporter] WELLINGTON,. October 2. . Although no official • announcement is to be made for. some time about the outcome of. the conference between the British,-Australian, and New Zealand representatives, on the proposals, for a trans-Tasman air mail service, it.-is understood that finality has been reached on a number of important points, which have now to be submitted to the governments concerned for ratification.' The, conference, which has been sitting throughout the present week, was, concluded to-day, and- the. Australian delegation, headed by the Common-? wealth Minister for Defence -(Sir Archdale Parkhill) left lor Sydney by the Awatea this afternoon. Beyond stating that the delegates had decided on certain recommendations for submission to the British, Australian, and New Zealand Govern-, ments, the Minister for Marine <the Hon. P. Fraser), Who presided over the conference as deputy-Prime Minister, Would say nothing 10-mght as to the outcome of the discussions.

Mr Fraser said that substantial progress had been in a number of important directions, but he added that until the points covered by the recommendations’ had been referred to the various governments for consideration any announcement would be premature.
