CANTERBURY AUTO-CYCLE CLUB The opening run this year will be held on Sunday at the Ainberley Domain. A comprehensive programme of events has been arranged and will include tennis, swimming, athletic events for old and young, as well as a full programme of motor sports. Good prizes are being awarded for all events. Hot water, tea, milk, and sugar will be provided free of charge. Members will meet at Swindley's Service Station at 9.45 a.m. and will be led, out under control. South Island Trial

The route for the two-day South Island reliability trial, to be held over Labour week-end, will be from Christchurch to Hokitika and return, leaving Christchurch on Sunday morning and returning on Monday afternoon. This trial will give members an excellent opportunity of seeing theJWest Coast by road. While in Hokitika, competitors will also have a chance of visiting places of interest, such as Lake Kanieri and the Himu gold dredge. The approximate cost for this trip. Including entry fee, is not expected to exceed 25s in all. Entries will close With the various motor shops at 12 noon on Saturday, October 24. Special classes have been ararnged for solo and pillion competitors. PIONEER CLUB Arrangements are proceeding for the club’s grass track meeting to be held at the Hew Brighton racecourse on October 17. The programme will consist of six events, two four-mile races, one event of five miles, one of seven miles, a scratch race of six miles, and a consolation event of three miles. The course Is one mile to the lap. Entries, at 2s 6d a race, or 12s 6d for the meeting, close with the secretary on Friday. October 9, at 9.30 p.m. Riders - are reminded that they must be registered with the Auto Cycle Union. The opening run to Waihora Park on October 11 is creating much Interest. A full sports programme has been drawn up and the local clubs will be there in force to compete i« the inter-club football match.
