ACCIDENTS
THREE PASSENGERS INJURED CAR FALLS INTtf RIVER (PEJSS3 ASSOCIATION TH-BOBAM.) INVERCARGILL, September 21. Early on Sunday morning a car driven by Lancelot William Donaldson, an employee at Burwood Station, failed to take a corner of the road from Mossburn to a Public Works camp at Mount Hamilton and crashed over a 25-foot bank' into the river. The driver escaped unhurt, but three passengers were injured. They were: Charles Webb, of Invercargill, severe head injuries and broken right leg. Edward William Bedwell, head injuries. Ralph Cole Scott, head injuries and fractured ribs. / The injured persons were brought by ambulance to the Southland Hospital. Their condition is satisfactory. MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED MOTOR-CAR MOUNTS FOOTPATH DUNEDIN. September 21. Donald Short, a single man. 57 years of age, was admitted to hospital this afternoon in a serious condition, suffering from injuries to his head, back, and right leg, through being struck by a motor-car driven by a woman. The car swerved at the intersection of Princes street and Manor place, and mounted the footpath, where Short was standing. TWO FINGERS BLOWN OFF WELLINGTON, September 21, Through putting a shotgun cartridge on a fire, P. Truelove, a schoolboy, of Seatoun road, had the first and third fingers of his right hand blown off when the charge exploded. He also suffered cuts Shout the hand and face, and shock. He was admitted to the hospital.
PEANUT REMOVED FROM WINDPIPE
BOY IN SERIOUS CONDITION
AUCKLAND, September 21. With a peanut lodged in his windpipe, Eric, Jack Cawsey, aged two years, a son of Mr Huia Cawsey, of Arapuni, was brought to the Auckland Hospital by motor-car to-night. Shortly after his admission the nut was removed; but the boy’s breathing was difficult, and his condition at a late hour was considered to be serious.
