CLOSING TO-MORROW NIGHT

SUCCESSFUL WINTER SHOW The Canterbury Winter §how and Exhibition, which has beeh creating such records for attendance and popularity, definitely closes to-morrow, night. Those who have not as yet visited the show are advised to do so.

Yesterday, 2035 persons visited the show, as well as many parties of school children. About 170 pupils arrived from Greymouth and Hokitika, and billets were found in the city for 70 of these. The organiser, Mr E.IL Marriner, yesterday expressed his thanks for the action of those people who during the week had found accommodation for more than 100 children. To-day Canterbury schools will send more than 600 children to the show, the following being represented: Rotherham, Templeton, South Malvern, Waiau, Hawarden, Oxford, and Methyen, , . To-morrow afternoon there will be a children’s fancy dress carnival. There are three prizes, for the best fancy dress, the most original, and “New Zealand made.” There are- three classes in each section, and a special prize will be given by Lady (say, of “The Press,” in one of the junicyr classes.

A visit to the show is one of the best ways to become acquainted with the manufactures and industries of New Zealand in a way which provides entertainment as well as instruction. The various displays and the working models are of outstanding interest Besides these {there is an attractive variety of side-shows.

Attractions for to-day and this evening include: Madam Kamos’ Punch and Judy, the Flying Colenos, Percy Butler’s Serenaders, Miss Maohire s dancing pupils, and Rix Carlton Klightning sketches).
