PARKING STATION
PROJECT FOR £IO,OOO BUILDING It is anticipated that the construction of a parking station for motor-cars in Worcester street will be startedwithin the next two months. Christchurch City Parking, Ltd., which issued a prospectus outlining the project in May, has gone to allotment, and the building of the station will be commenced as soon as possible. The company has an authorised capital of £IO,OOO. The site for the station is between the Avon Theatre and the Clarendon Hotel, It is intended to erect a reinforced concrete building to accommodate about 140 cars. The cost of the building, including architect’s fees, is estimated at £IO,OOO, and the cost of the land is set down in the prospectus at £BSOO. The site has a frontage of 74 feet to Worcester street. The station will have three floors. One will be a basement floor, and there will be the ground and first floors. The top and bottom floors will be reached by ramps, with a grade of about one in seven. Those patrons who park their cars in the basement and on the first floor will have access to the street by separate stairways. The main entranre wIT be from Worcester street, and from the ground floor there, will be an '•xit to a rights of-way at the back of the building, On the street front there will be two shops. Just inside the entrance will be a waitii g-room for women, and a parcels office.
