PIPING AND DANCING

ANNUAL COMPETITIONS Record entries and good attendances of the public have fully justified the venture of the Piping and Dancing Association in introducing annual competitions, which were continued at the Scottish Society’s Hall last evening. A total of 509 entries were received from 121 competitors. and two more nights will be necessary to conclude the function. The Dominion championship, Irish jig for boys and girls, 14 years of age and over, was won by Miss Billie Addis and Miss Joyce Fraser was placed second. The North Canterbury provincial centre sailor’s hornpipe championship, 14 years and over, was also won by Miss Billie Addis, and Misses Flora Fitt and Hazel Neil tied, for second place. The competitions are being run by the Caledonian and Scottish Societies in conjunction with the association.
