BANK OF NEW ZEALAND SOLD AT £l/19/-

Though, price levels were generally maintained, dealings on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday were quieter than they were the day before. Bank of New Zealand continued to weaken, and a sale was made at £1 19s, a new low point. Wilson’s Cement were also cheaper.

Government New Zealand Government 4 per cent. Stock, due 1940, changed hands at £lOl 10s and £lOl 7s Set. Bank of New Zealand declined to 395, closing quotations 3d on either side. Other bank shares were firm at late rates. National Insurance had dealings at 18s 3d and 18s 4d, market closing 18s Id buyers, 18s 3d sellers, Goldsfarough, Morts were firm, with buyers and business at 31$ 5<L New Zealand Refrigerating, 10s paid, appeared easier, with sellers at 9s 8i Christchurch Gas. 10s paid, were dealt in at 14s 9d. Miscellaneous Australian Iron and Steel, preference, changed hands at 25s 3d. market closing 3d either way. British Tobaccos were firm with buyers and dealings at 40a lid. sellers at 41s. Broken Hill Proprietary contributing had business at 54s 10d. and more were offered at 555, buyers at 54s fid. Dunlop Perdriau Rubbers were firm, with sellers and business at 18s.. Electrolytic Zinc, ordinary shares, cum dividend, were fractionally firmer, with sellers and business at 41s 9d—the preference had dealings at 43s lOd and 43s 7d. and more were offered at 43s Bd. buyers at 43s 6d. G. J, Coles changed hands at 8?s 3d and S4s fid, sellers staying in at the higher price, buyers at 83s. Wilson’s Cements dropped to 38s 3d, and there were further unsupported sellers • at 395. Mining A late sale of Big Rivers on Monday was reported at 2s Id, and dealings yesterday were at 2s Id and 2s lid. Brian Borus were firm, with buyers and business at 33 d. Gillespie’s Beach, cum dividend, were fractionally firmer, with buyers and business at Is 4d Maori Gully were firm, with buyers and business at 7|d. A late sale of Mount Lyelis on Monday was reported at 29s 7d. and yesterday’s quotations were Id on either side. Mount Morgans were firm at 13s lid. Upper Watuts were easier, with sellers and business at 5s fid. Sulphide Corporation advanced to 15s 9d. Unlisted Stocks Macetown were dealt in at 3|d. New River were fractionally firmer, at 7d. Shillings, Ltd., declined to 14s Id and 14s, and more were offered at the lower price. Wool worths (Sydney) changed hands at £5 Xss, and Woolworths, (West Australia) at £5 17s 3d. LATEST QUOTATIONS

TINW4LD V There was a slight casing in prices at the Tlnwald stock market yesterday when compared with those ruling at the double market at Ashburton two weeks ago. The entry was not particularly larger and time was a noticeable scarcity of .-stare' sheep. The yarding was of average quality, tadprices toil from Is to Is 6d a head. The top price for the sale went to F. P. Cookson (Eiffelton). for whom two ewes were sold at 36s lOd. The entry of wethers was fairly large, and the quality good. Prices rapge£ from 22s Td to 30s 4d. toe latter going to W. Giddings tEaling) lor a pen of six. Not many hoggets were entered Top price went to H. Harper and Sons (Lowcliffe) for 5 at 33s Id.
