ELEVEN REJECTED LAST YEAR [.From Our Parliamentary Reporter! During the year ended March 31, J930, a total of 2000 films of all classes were examined by the film censors, according to the annual report of the Department pf Internal Affairs, which was tabled in the House pf Representatives to-day, Eleven films were rejected in the first instance. 91 were passed subject to excisions 155 were passed with a recommendation that they werp more suitable for adult audiences, and 10 were passed with a caution that they were not suitable for exhibition to children. No appeals were lodged against the censors' decisions, The countries of origin of quota films were as follows; Great %, United States of America 373, Germany 1. Spain 1, and Italy L Compared with the previous year there was a decrease of 17 in the number pf rejections. There were similar decreases in the other classes requiring amendment. The report stated that this appeared to indicate that producers generally were exercising greater care in the choice of subjects and in the manner of presentation of films, this probably being because of their interpretation of public opinion as expressed through {he censorship and the press.
