CENTENARY OF NEW ZEALAND
REPRESENTATION DESIRED BY TRAMWAY BOARD
A further effort is to be made by the Christchurch Tramway Board to secure representation on the Canterbury committee for the celebration of the centenary of New Zealand. At a meeting of the board on Saturday a letter was received from the City Council stating that as the committee had been constituted, with a definite proportion of town and country members, it was regretted that no additions could be made. 1 Mr R. M. Macfarlane, who moved that the effort should lie continued, said that the board should be represented because of the large area served by it. . Mr E. J. Howard, M.P., remarked that it had been silly to overlook the which was the most Important traffic control body in the city.
