HAWKE’S BAY DRAMA FESTIVAL
WINNING PLAY WRITTEN IN NAPIER (PEIS3 ASSOCIATION ,TELEGBAK.) HASTINGS, August 12. The Hawke’s Bay Drama League festival concluded last night. Mr Arnold Goodwin, the judge, awarded the senior cup to the Napier Repertory Players, who produced, “The Shadow of the Light,” written by H. Russell Moss, of Napier. In the junior section the judge was* unable to decide between the Hereworth Boys’ School, who played “The Confusion of Wisdom,” and the Napier Girls’ High School who played “The Oak and the Axe.” Mr Goodwin commented on the high standard in both sections.
A fetter from Mr S. Pearson advocating state aid for denominational day schools was received at a meeting ot the Christchurch Presbytery yesterday morning and referred to the youth committee for consideration.
