WELLINGTON, August 10. The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, stated to-day that the mortgage legislation would P r p w " ably "be introduced this weex but would not be proceeded with immediately, so that everybody could become conversant with its provisions. Guaranteeing ..the price to dairy farmers was only part of the plan for the rehabilitation of the dairy industry, he said. The whole effect would not be manliest till the mortgage legislation was brought down. After primary production had been restored to its normal basis the Government would not allow conditions to operate which would bring about financial embarrassment. Taxation could prevent land speculation. Whatever form of, taxation was necessaiy to take for the community what belonged to the community would be carried into effect. Other forms of primary produce would be brought under the marketing scheme as soon as possible, but not necessarily this session. Thtxe was no need to worry about wool at this stage, but other primary industries were anxious to be brought in. Mr Savage said that the Minister for Marketing, the Hon. W. Nasn, might Lave for England in October.
