One hundred models of the giant French liner Normandie, selected from 2000 entries in a contest sponsored by the Model Builders’ Guild, of Hempstead, New York state, were exhibited in New York recently. Entries were submitted from all states of the Union and 19 other countries in competition for 80 prizes, which included two round trips to Europe on the Normandie, two cruises to the West Indies, silver cups, and gold medals. The finalists include residents of 19 states, Alaska, France, Canada, Dutch West Indies, district of Columbia, and the Philippine Islands. Three women were among the finalists, and the ages of the finalists ranged from 12 to 73. Each model was 18 inches long, built exactly to scale, and included an interior lighting system and reproduction •of all exterior details of the Normandie.
