CYLINDER HURLED THROUGH ROOF

TWO MEN ESCAPE INJURY IN. EXPLOSION [THE PRESS Special Sendee.] AUCKLAND. June 17. Two men working in a motor garage in Queen street, Warkworth, narrowly escaped seriojis injury this afternoon when a heavy compressed-air cylinder exploded and was hurled through the roof. The cylinder, which was used for compressing air for inflating motortyres, was about four feet long and was strapped to the wall of the garage. Without any warning, it exploded with a loud report and shot like a rocket through the roof 100 feet into the air. The two men were working nearby but escaped the full force of the explosion and were not injured. The cylinder feH in the main street, some distance away from the garage, missing the house, of Mr P. Halligan by a few feet There were no pedestrians about at the time.
