MINING WEST COAST DREDGING RETURNS i The following are last week’s returns from New Zealand-owned dredges operating on the West Coast: — I Hours. Oz. Dwt.

NOKOMAI COMPANY (press assocutio* tbleoeau.) DUNEDIN, June 17. The annual report of the Nokomai Gold Mining Company states that the actual gold won by hydraulic elevating during the year amounted to 710qz lldwt, valued at £5007 8s lid. This showed a slight loss for the, period. A further return of 550 z lldwt, being the finish of the final paddock for the year, came to hand a few days after the books were closed. . During the year the Nokomai Gold Dredging Company (London) failed to float the new .company, and all negotiations were cancelled. A satisfactory basis for the final settlement of matters in dispute with Industries. Ltd., and the Vulcan Company was arranged. Afterwards an option was granted to the Burma Malay Company to bore the property in conjunction with an option over other areas. This option was abandoned after one month’s boring, and the company received payment of £IOO. The directors therefore recommend the installation of two 12-inch gravel pumps working in series and their necessary accessories at an estimated cost of approximately £BOOO. They consider it advisable to raise by way of a debenture issue a sum of not less than £12,000, out of which £4OOO is payable to Industries, Ltd., in the terms of the agreement entered into with that company, and the directors recommend that the balance be applied in purchasing and installing the two gravel pumps.
