GREYMOUTH MAGISTRATE’S COURT [THE PRESS Special Service.) GREYMOUTH, June 17. At yesterday’s sitting of the Magistrate's Court, Mr H. Morgan, S.M., gave judgment for palintlff by default, with costs, in each of the following civil cases:—James Edward Fitzgerald, Garrett Fitzgerald, and the Public Trustee, as executor of the estate of Michael Fitzgerald v. Sid Rowan, £7 2s 6d; Annie Marshall v. Hugh Alexander McQuilkin, £224 8s lid; J. W. Burr v. Frederick J. Tibbies. £5 12s 6d. On a judgment summons, John Russell was ordered to pay to Groom Bros., £8 19s 4d, with ISS 6d solicitors’ fee, forthwith, in default nine days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be, suspended so long as debtor paid -is 6d a week. Arthur Stevens was ordered to pay £7 18s 6d with 15s 6d solicitor’s fee. forthwith, to L. E. Morgan, in default eight days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as debtw paid 7s 6d a week, with the first payment on July 1. Tender For Flowers Creek Culvert The tender of Mr W. Arnott, of Greymouth, has been accepted by „the Grey Coujpty Council for the construction of a reinforced concrete box culvert, 24 feet in width, over Flowers creek, on the main highway between Gladstone and New River. Theft-of Cloth Before Mr H. Morgan, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, George Alexander Low, aged 33 years, was charged with the theft of three suit lengths, valued at £5 15s, the property of Bennett and Company, Ltd. Senior Sergeant E. Quayle applied for a remand until Saturday, and this was granted. Mr M. B. James, who appeared iqr the accused, did not apply for bail. Fenooal Mr T. Crankshaw left yesterday for Wellington, to attend a conference of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association. Mrs Crankshaw accompanied him to Christchurch. Miss J. Fowler left yesterday for Christchurch. Mr T. Bustard left yesterday on return to Wanganui. Miss R. Smith left yesterday for Christchurch. Mr A. T. B. Lowry left yesterday on a holiday visit to Christchurch, Messrs H. J. Bignell and R. Wild left yesterday for Christchurch. Association Football Mr W. Robertson presided at a special meeting of the Westland Football Association, when a telegram was received from the Buller Association suggesting that it play Westland at Greymouth on Saturday. It was decided to advise Buller that the match could not be played on Saturday because of the representative team’s departure for Christchurch on Monday, but suggesting the following Saturday. J, Rutherford was appointed captain and J. Cowe vice-captain of the Westland team to play Canterbury, at Christchurch, on June 23'.
