GRANTS FOR BIG FAMILIES
♦ STIMULATING BIRTH-RATE IN GERMANY BERLIN. June 16. Seeking to stimulate the birthrate, Herr Reinhardt, of the Finance Ministry, announces State grants of 10 marks monthly for the fifth and everv additional child under 1 R years, of families , whose income does not exceed 185 marks a month. It is estimated that 400,000 children will be involved and that the scheme will cost 48,000,000 marks a year. This scheme will operate from July and will supplement the system of non-recurrent grants for large families, which hitherto has cost 75,000,000 marks. Six hundred thousand loans, totalling 340,000,000 marks, have been made to assist couples to marry.
