Isle of Man was won by F. L. Frith, | riding a Norton, in 3 hours 17 mini utes 6 seconds. His average speed was 80.14 miles an hour. J. H. White, on another Norton. | was second at an average speed of i 77.97 miles an hour. E. A. MellorS, lon a Velocette, was third, with an | average 0f'77.91 miles an hour, i James Guthrie, the winner for the | last two years, was disqualified I after leading for four laps. He broke his own lap record of 80.11 miles an I hour, which was also beaten by ; Frith, who set a new lap record of j 81.94 miles an hour. I Frith’s total time broke Guthrie's i previous record by 2 minutes 28 I seconds. j Guthrie’s disqualification was ’ cancelled after the hearing of evi- : dence. The value of the second prize, £7O, which he would probably have won, was awarded to the Norton factory, which won the team prize. ; [The performance-of Frith, who was i making his first appearance in this ; race, in winning and in breaking the Irace and lap records, was particularly good. Both records were previously held by Guthrie. Frith is well known lin the Manx grand prix, the amateur race run on the Isle of Man circuit. He was placed second in the senior and first in the junior race last year. White has also ridden in the Manx grand prix. Last year be won the 350 c.c. class of the Belgian grand prix, was third in the junior tourist trophy race, and fourth in the 350 c.c. class in the Ulster grand prix. Mellons has been riding for many years. This is the sixth year in succession that Norton machines have won the race.
