MOTOR-CAR CATCHES FIRE
DRIVER RECEIVES SLIGHT TURNS The New Brighton Volunteer Fire Brigade received a call to a motorcar fire in River road at 2.20 yesterday morning. The owner of the car, Mr Lester Davidson, of 76 Breeze’s j road, was reluming to his home when i he was forced to stop near the Bower Hotel, through a blocked carburettor. While he was investigating the trouble, the engine ignited. In response to a telephone call from Mr W. E. Wilkins, who lives nearby, the fire engine arrived promptly, but in the meantime, the owner of the car had extinguished the outbreak with sand. Apart from the engine, the car was not badly damaged, but Mr Davidson had to receive attention for burns on a hand.
