Kang Edward, in addition to fulfilling several official duties to-day, found time to pay surprise visits to two Ministry of Labour instructional centres fur unemployed. This morning he hold a Privy Council at Buckingham Palace, at which Sir Samuel Hoare took the oath on his appointment as First Lord of tr.e Admiralty, Later his Majestv received in audience Kir O. Pirow, South African Minister for Defence, and the British Ambassador in Turkev (Sir Percy Loraine). The first training centre which the King visited was at Acton, where he toured all departments and questioned the men undergoing courses of instruction Jo fit them for employment in other industries than those in which they were formerly engaged, but in which there is no longer the same demand for labour. The King went on to Slough, where he spent an hour in another instructional centre among some 600 men, me. t of whom have been transferred from, specially depressed *reas. In this centre there are courses of more than 20 different trades. After a complete tour his Majesty Expressed satisfaction with the success which was attending the methods of practical training •dopted at these centres.
