Haslam, president of the Christchurch Harrier Club, which promotes the race, congratulated the Civil Service team on its win. Mr R. L. Kennett presented the cups to Geddes and medals to the members of th team. CLUB EVENTS PRESBYTERIAN MEMBERS HOLD TRIAL RUN To select teams for the Akaroa relay race a trial run was held by the Presbyterian Club over a six-mile trail in the Spreydon. Middleton, and Halswell districts. There was an attendance of about 50 at the run, which was held at the invitation of the Presbyterian Young Women’s Bible Class. The trail was laid by R. MARATHON RACE AT AUCKLAND

SAVIDAN RETIRES WHEN IN LEAD * (FBl»S ASSOCIATION TILBQBAM.) AUCKLAND, June 14. The first marathon race ever held in Auckland was conducted on Saturday by the Auckland Amateur Athletic Club. The distance was 26 miles and 385 yards over a course along the waterfront road between St. Helier’s Bay and the power board buildings, near King’s wharf. The contest was won by L.
