GOLF The annual match for the Bradley Shilling was played at Charteris Bay yesterday, the best cards being as follows; —R. Candy, 93, 18 —75; D. R. Wallace 102, 24—78; D. E. Collett, 98, 19— 79; H. A sealed hole handicap for a trophy presented by Mrs H. E. Ayers was won by Miss M. Sowden, 51, 10—41, Mrs H. G. Banfield, with 61. 16—45, was the runnerup. In the play-off of a tie in an eclectic match yesterday. Miss M. Sowden, 48, 10 —38. beat Miss R. Sutcliffe, 59, 16 — 43. A women’s match played at Diamond Harbour on Saturday over nine holes, for a trophy presented by Miss M, Sutton, was won by Mrs F. Collins, with a score of 48 net. Mrs E. Cooper was the winner of a Ladies’ Golf Union medal match played yesterday. “Old-time” Dance There was a large attendance of dancers at the four-weekly “old-time” dance arranged by the committee of the West Lyttelton School, and held in the Excelsior Hall on Saturday night. Music was provided by the Erica Dance Orchestra, extras being played by Messrs J. Wyatt and R. Smith. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr and Mrs B. J. Graham, Mr K. Sillars and Miss C. Fitzgerald being awarded second prize. A Dampier Monte Carlo was won by Mr E. Woods and Mrs J. Thomas. Euchre Tournaments To assist the funds for sports, recreation, and the dental clinic, the committee of the Lyttelton District High School has arranged a series of euchre tournaments, to be held in the school every Wednesday night during the winter months. Good prizes are offered and supper will be pro;vided.
