OFFICIAL FORECASTS # ' [TBS FKBM Special Service.] WELLINGTON, June 14. The Dominion Observatory’s weather forecast for Canterbury and Marlborough, issued at 5 p.m., and dealing ■with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is a* follows: — Moderate to fresh west to soothwest winds, taming temporarily to narth-wrat. but a change to strong southerlies probable during Monday. Weather changeable with intermittent rain, and on the ranges now. A cold change later, with hail in places. Seas slight to moderate, bat rising with the southerly change. The following is the Dominion foretc.it:— Weather changeable, bat mainly rloady to overcast, with intermit- • tent rain and mist or fog at places. A cold change spreading from the sooth to-morrow, with some hail and on the high levels, snow. A depression of moderate intensity is crossing New Zealand to-uy, ana another is following it rather closely across the Tasman- Sea. An anti-cyclone of considerable intensity covers Australia, Winds—Northerlies at first over eastern portions of the North Island, but otherwise west to south-west prevailing. Later winds again tending more northerly, force moderate to strong. A second change to southertrlies of strong to gale force in the far north to-morrow. Sea_- 'New Zealand waters)— Rather rough cn the V/est Coast, and about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere j slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh south-west to north-west winds, backing later to strong southerlies. Seas moderate, but becoming rough to-morrow. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch was rold and cloudy during the week-end. On Saturday and again yesterday there was a cold north-easterly wind. The maximum temperature was 52.8 degrees, recorded yesterday. At 1 o'clock this morning the sky ni clear and a light northwest wind was blowing. The temperature was 46 degrees. Saturday was very cold, but the temperature yesterday v as remarkably mild. The barometer, after falling slowly since Friday, registered 29.95 last evening. Wellington—Saturday was fine, with a light north-north-west breeze. The maximum temperature was 52.4 degrees, and the minimum 40.3 degrees. Yesterday was cloudy at first, later becoming overcast, and misty rain set in about noon, and continued at intc vals throughout the afternoon. Up till 3 p.m. 11 points of rain fell at Kelburn. The wind was north-north-west all day. light to moderate mostly, but freshening at times. The maximum temperature was 54.0 degrees, and the minimum 43.4 degrees. Dunedin—The weather on Saturday was dull and overcast, with a light breeze from the north-east. The sun shene for a short period in the morning. The barometer fell throughout the day.
