MOTOR-CYCLIST KILLED IN SYDNEY

(Received June 15, 12.20 a.m.) SYDNEY, June 14. Robert Coomes, aged 25, of lilthgow, better known as “Bobby Blake,” a champion motor-cyclist, was killed while practising at Maroubra Speedway in Sydney today, when his cycle skidded on a wet surface. Blake, among other notable Victorian riders, won the New Zealand gold helmet in 1932. He was a member of the 1933 Australian motor-cycle team which visited England. During the first international test race between England, Australia, and America in Sydney, Blake fell, fractured his skull, and broke both his arms, necessitating his retirement from competitive riding.
