METHODIST LADIES' GUILD
There was a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the New Brighton Methodist Ladies’ Guild, held in the Methodist Schoolroom. The president, Miss I. Palmer, gave a report of a service held at the Linwood Methodist Church, when the Rev. E. P. Blamires had given a special address to members of th various ladies’ guilds. On the motion of Mrs F. Gardner Brown, the members agreed to make "rrments for the children at the Methodist Orphanage at Papanui, and a committee was appointed to buy material. It was reported that a large number of gifts had been received for a box, which is sent every year to the Solomon Islands Mission. Letters of thanks for gift boxes sent to institutions, hospitals, and schools were received from Sister Ethel McMillan, the Rev. A. W. Silvester, Sister Verna Cannon, Mrs Leadley, Sister Ada Lee, Sister Lena Jones, and Mrs Voyce. At afternoon tea the hostesses were Mesdames J. Cook and J. Wilson.
