WAIRAU RIVER BOARD MR E. S. PARKER RE-BLECTBf CHAIRMAN [THE PRESS Iptdil Service.] BLENHEIM, June 12. A meeting of the Wairau Rive* Board was held when Mr E. S. Parke® was unanimously re-elected chair* man of the board for the ensuing yeaA It was decided to allow the chairman an honorarium of £25 per annum out of unauthorised expenditure. Two tenders were received for the work of excavating a cut through the boulder bank at the Wairau Bar to provide a safety outlet during floo<J time, and that of Mr H. Woolley at £47 18s was accepted. Mounted Rifles Band At a public meeting held last even* ing, it was decided to form the Nel« son-Marlborough Mounted Rifles Band into an incorporated body and to change the name to the Marl* borough Regimental Blenheim Muni* cipal Band (Inc.). The chairman, Mr M, McKenzie, explained that the band had recently committed itself to the purchase of £795 worth of new instruments, of which £350 had been paid in cash. It was desired to clear the balance within 12 months. It was decided to make a start in this direction by raising funds Aero Clnb The monthly meeting of the Marlborough Aero Club was held, when the resignation of Mr A. E. Willis from the committee was accepted with regret, Mr Willis having accepted a position as commercial pilot to the club. It was decided also to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Dr. J. F. Bennett and the resignation of Mr Willis,\by appointing Mr B. K. White, and Sister V. W. Farmar. It was decided that the pilot instructor should submit a report on the cost of equipment required for fitting * machine for blind flying instruction. Record Poppy Day Takings The final returns for the sale of poppies in Marlborough last Poppy Day have come to hand, and disclose that a total of £179 9s 4d was raised which will be given to the relief of unemployed former servicemen. The amount is a record for Poppy Day in Marlborough. Egg Society. The fourth annual meeting of the Blenheim Co-operative Egg Society was held recently, with Mr L. Rayner presiding. The annual report showed that the membership had been increased, and now stood at 147. The profit on the year’s working had increased to £7B, which will provide a bonus to all suppliers at the rate of £1 Is Id, for those who had sent in one crate of eggs each week. The total number ox eggs handled during the last season amounted to IJSSO, OOU, The following officers were elected for the ensuing year;— Chairman, Mr L. Rayner (.re-eiected); comgiittee, Messrs J. H. Fea, D. Rayner, riJ. W. Douglas, G. Western, G. Rayner, £. Harris, and G. Dalton (ail re-elected), and J. H. Stade.
