THE CONTROL OF TROTTING MEETING OF ASSOCIATION At a meeting of the Board of the New Zealand Trotting Association last evening there were present: Messrs J. H. Williams (chairman). J. R. McKenzie, S. W. Kelly, J. M. Samson, B. McCarthy, H. W. Kitchingham, and W. Hayward. Mr A. A. Saveli, of Otaki, wrote ask. ing for information when forming a new trotting club. He said there was every prospect of a trotting club being formed in his district, and geographically there appeared to be nothing to prevent a trotting club from being formed there. The support of between 300 and 400 persons was assured if a club were formed and guidance from the association was requested. It was decided to leave the matter in the hands of Mr B. McCarthy, who would report to a later meeting. The board discussed at length a report from the Nelson Trotting Club regarding the running of Corianda at its recent meeting and also the driving of Wikitoria by L. F. Berkett in the President’s Handicap. In the latter case the driving of B. J. Mackle of Corianda in the previous case was reopened and a charge of inconsistent running against Corianda was dismissed. Berkett. driver of Wikitoria, had been fined £5. The board was not satisfied with the report presented, and decided to ask the club under which rules it had charged Mackle and Berkett. Deaths of the following horses were reported: Bounty, Buzz Buzz. Country Child First Toll, Generalissimo, Happy Thought, Louvain Chimes, Ozanam, Propeller, Rollicking Bells, Wild Lad, and Young Travis. The next meeting of the board will be held in Wellington on July 8 at 2.30 p.m.
