Mr A. C. Zohrab, M.A., of Palmerston North Boys’ High School, has been appointed senior English master at Whangarei High School in place of Mr D. A. Bird, who will leave soon to take an important position with the Ashburton High School. The resignation of the Rev. K. T. F. Larsen from the charge of Amuri was before the Christchurch Presbytery at its meeting yesterday morning. The Presbytery appointed a committee to confer with Mr Larsen and the congregation at Amuri and to report at the next meeting. Mr Larsen has been invited to the charge of Lauder, Otago. The Rev. Alan Watson was appointed convener of the Christchurch Presbytery’s public questions committee at a meeting' of the Presbytery yesterday. Mr Watson succeeds the Rev. J. A. Allan, who left Christchurch recently to take over the Mount Eden charge in Auckland. The appointment of a chaplain at Paparua prison in succession to Mr Allan was referred back to the public questions committee after the Rev. T. Paterson had declined the position because of pressure of work. The Rev. R, Warnock, Presbyterian chaplain at the Christchurch Public Hospital for the. last three years, was reappointed to the position for a further year by the Christchurch Presbytery yesterday morning. Mr ,C. S. Thomas returned yesterday from the West Coast, where he attended the sittings of the Supreme Court. Delegates from Canterbury and Otago to the annual conference of the New Zealand branch of the British Empire Cancer Campaign Society in Wellington on Tuesday returned yesterday. The Canterbury delegates were Sir Hugh Acland, Dr. P. Clennell Fenwick, and Mr John Mac Gibbon. . The Otago delegates, who returned south by the express, were Sir Louis Barnett, Dr. E. F. D’Ath, and Dr. C F de Monchaux. Colonel Albert Osborn, who has been chief secretary of the Salvation Army in New Zealand for three years, left Christchurch for the north last evening. He will leave in about a month to take over Salvation Army duties in Scotland and Ireland.
