DISCUSSION ON LAW OF LIBEL AND SLANDER (Received June 10, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, June 9. The conference of the Empire Press Union devoted the afternoon to a debate on censorship. After an address by Mr Kenneth Anderson, legal expert for Associated Newspapers, outlining the bill designed to place libel on the same basis as slander and limiting the scope of the “gold digger,” the conference passed a resolution urging Britain and the Dominions to legislate on the matter as nearly identically as possible.
