Three men were killed last month in an explosion which occurred at the oil port of Salt End, on the banks of the River Humber, about five miles from Hull. Crews of ships in the river saw a large oil-tank suddenly blow up and its roof rise into the sky, and then fall again into the fields near by. The victims of the explosion were testing the roof of the tank when it blew up.
