Seven entries have been received, and it may be necessary to hold a day as well as an evening session. The' competitions will probably begin at 11 am.. when two plays will be presented before adjourning for lunch. From 2 pat five plays will be given. The plays selected and the institutes presenting them are:—“ The New Poor” (Spring Creek), “Smoke (Havelock), “Get Out of Your Cage” (Blenheim Centre), “Slow Curiam (Ward), "Poison Party” (SeddoO), “The Deception of Kitty” (Wairau Valley), and “A Bit of War” (Picton). The seven plays, occupying not more than 35 minutes each, will be one-act and of varied types. Bowling Clnb Meeting Motions of sympathy with the relatives of the late Messrs D. Fuller and A. B. West were passed at the committee of the Blenheim Bowling Clubt with Mr R. J. Cresswell presiding. The resignation of Mr L. A. Sprosen, who has been transferred to Christchurch, was accepted with regret, and Mr A. O. Webb was appointed treasurer in his place. The opportunity was taken to present Mr Sprosen with a bowl bag as a token of appreciation of his services as treasurer of the chib. Collie Dog Trials The Awatere Collie Dog Club’s trials were begun at Seddon yesterday. About 50 dogs will be competing id the various events. The heading amt yarding trial, the first event, was concluded this morning, the results bang: A. Watson’s Chloe, 47 points, 1; V. Moore’s Ben, 43 points, 2; J. Head’s Bill Bailey, 42 points, 3; J. Brown’S Ned Kelly, 41i .points. A; B. Stalker’s Handy and R. Innes’s Queen, 41 points (equal), 5. Arrangements for Hockey Tsmamcaft , The New Zealand women’s hockey tournament has been allocated to Blenheim this year, according to definite advice received this morning, and most probably the fixture will be held about the end of August. Preliminary arrangements for entertaining and billeting the visiting players have already been made. It is expected that St players at least will be coming to Blenheim to compete. A deputation from the Marlborough Hockey Association waited on the Come to Blenheim Association early in the week to discuss matters, the Hockey Association seeking assistance in entertaining and billeting. A further meeting will be held on Tuesday, when further arrangements will be discussed.
