RUGBY FOOTBALL
DELARGEY SHIELD GAMES COUNTRY SUB-UNION MATCHES ARRANGED Dates for challenge matches for the Delargey Shield, at present held by the Hurunui Sub-Union, were fixed at a committee meeting of the Canterbury Rugby Sub-Unions. Hurunui will play matches as follows;—v. Peninsula, August 8; v. North Canterbury, August 15: v. Ellesmere, August 22; v. Malvern, August 29. There were present at the meeting Messrs H. Saundercock (in the chair), R. W. McMeekan and the Rev. T. Paterson (Malvern), Messrs J. Sheldon and W. H. Candy (North Canterbury), F. J. Miller and J. Calder (Ellesmere), C. McKeegan and W. Mockett (Hurunui), and V. Craw and T. Masefield (Peninsula. The meeting agreed to July 25 as the date for the annual Town v. Country match. Teams representing the north and south sub-unions respectively Will meet at the Christchurch show grounds on Wednesday, July 15, as a preliminary to the selection of the country team, and on next Saturday the probable country team will play a senior grade Christchurch side at Rangiora. Mr J. Calder was appointed manager for the south sub-unions team, and Mr C. McKeegan manager for the north team. Mr McKeegan will also be in charge of the country team in both of its games. The selectors for the country team will be the Rev. T. Paterson, Mr Calder, and Mr McKeegan. The following games between the subunion sides were arranged;— North Canterbury v.
