♦ KIDNAPPING CHARGES NEW ORLEANS, May 1. Alvin Karpis, whom the Department of Justice has searched for for three years, was captured to-day by a squad of G men, led personally by Mr J. Edgar Hoover. Not a single shot was exchanged in making the arrest. Karpis was wanted on charges of kidnapping William Hamm and E. G. Bremer. A gangster named Fred Hunter, who was wanted on charges of bank robbery, and an unidentified woman, were captured with him.
