WOMAN MURDERED

♦ A NEW YORK CRIME (Received April 12, 7.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, April 10. Mrs Nancy Titterton, a wellknown writer of juvenile stories under the pen name of Nancy Evans, was found brutally murdered in the bath of her apartment late this afternoon. The police declared that she was garroted with a silk pyjama cord after an attempt had been made to commit a criminal assault. Her clothes were torn to shreds, and the condition of the apartment and furnishings further indicated that she put up a terrific struggle for life. Her husband, Lewis Titterton, a radio executive and formerly a journalist, was at his office all day and could give the police no clue to ihe possible identity of the murderer. Mr Titterton was born near York, England, in 1900. He is a Cambridge honours graduate. His wife was a native of America.
