REPORT ON AIRPORT FOR SEAPLANES

INVESTIGATION BY HARBOUR BOARD A report on the suitability of Lyttelton harbour and the Sumner estuary for seaplane airports will b® submitted to the Lyttelton Harbour Board about the middle of next month, according to a statement made yesterday by the secretary of the board, Mr C. H. Clibborn. The investigation was undertaken by the board in January in preparation for possible future extensions of the proposed seaplane services across the Pacific and Tasman Sea*

The board obtained the permission of the City Council to allow th» City Engineer, Mr A. R. Galbraith, to collaborate with the board's engineer, Mr P. W. Fryer, in a report on the two sides. Mr Clibborn said yesterday that Mr Galbraith had been unable to devote the necessary time to complete the report, and "had only recently returned from the North Island. Mr Fryer would leave to-day for Australia, and would be away for v 10 days or so. However, he expected that a report would be [available about the middle of next month.
