Smith, an official of the British Pensions Department at pres-, ent visiting New Zealand in connexion with pensions, cannot deal with South African pensions, his mission being confined to the Great War. He also said that Dr. A. B. Falconer, of Dunedin, a prominent member of the South African War Veterans' Association, was leaving for England to-day and would enquire Into the position there. Mr Goldsmith expressed the opinion that it was time some Empire scheme should be evolved.
