BASIC WAGE TO BE FIXED
__4 : ARBITRATION COURT TO MAKE DECISION (PRESS A33OCUTIO* TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, March 11. The Minister for Labour (the Hon. H. T. Armstrong) announced to-day that one of- the features of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act Amendment Bill would be a clause calling upon the Arbitration Court within three months of the passing of the act to fix a basic wage for adult male and female workers In New Zealand, the rate to be based on existing economic conditions and the cost of living, and to be aimed at providing in the case of males for a man, his wife and two children. Provision would also be made for the court to review the basic rate at six-monthly intervals. ' " '
