TWO COMPANIES TO BE ASSOCIATED
CHANGE IN CONTROL OF CIVIC THEATRE From Saturday week, March 21, the Civic Theat|e will be operated by Amalgamated Theatres, Ltd., in association with the present controlling com* pany, British Dominions Films, Ltd. This announcement was made last night by the New Zealand representative of the latter company, Mr Barrie Y. Marschel. British Dominions Films, Ltd., has been showing British films at the Civic Theatre for the last three years and a half. Mr Marschel said that the arrangement for the theatre to be operated in conjunction had been made between himself on behalf of his company and Mr M. J. Moodabe, governing director of Amalgamated Theatres, Ltd., which has its headquarters in Auckland. The new arrangement would not make necessary any alteration in the • personnel of the theatre staff, and Mr R. Stewart would be retained as manager. The first attraction at the Civic Theatre under the new arrangement would be George Arliss in "The Guv'nor," which would be shown with a very strong supporting programme.
