THE LABOUR GOVERNMENT AND PEACE
Speaking on what the Labour Government could do for peace, Mr C. H. Cole, at a meeting of the Social Discussion Group on Sunday night, said that there should be a repeal of the Military Service Act and the Defence Act, and the abolition of all military instruction in schools, as provided for in the Labour party's own platform. Mr N. M. Bell presided at the meeting. Mr Cole also urged that there should be, a progressive annual decrease in defence expenditure, leading to the ultimate abolition of the office of Minister for Defence and the establishment of a Ministry for Peace.
