SOUTH CANTERBURY

TIMARU

ROTARIAN W. THOMAS CONGRATULATED

The Timaru Rotary Club, at its weekly meeting yesterday, congratulated Rotarian W. Thomas on being nominated as district governor of the fifty-third New Zealand district of Rotary International.

In responding, Rotarian Thomas said that he accepted the honour with great diffidence, especially when he saw who were available for the position at the conference. Probably he had two qualifications to counterbalance his shortcomings. He had the time, and he believed in Rotary. He hoped as a result of his visit to the coming conference in Atlantic City and his visits to the New Zealand clubs to gain some extra knowledge which may be of some assistance to the Timaru club.
