STAFF PICNIC
MESSRS GORDON AND GOTCH
There was perfect weather for the annual picnic of Messrs Gordon and Gotch (A'asia), Ltd., which was held at Diamond •Harbour on Saturday, after having been postponed previously because of bad weather. During the day ice-creams, soft drinks, and sweets were provided free. A cricket match held in the afternoon between the married men and the single men was won by the married men. The results of the races were as follows: Girls, six and under: Lynne Watson 1, Marie Jackson 2. JBoys, six and under: Lionel Jones 1, Bobert Hargreaves 2. Girls, six to 14: Shirley Fraser 1, Mary Grigor 2. Boys, six to 12: George Seaward 1, Robin Milne 2. Gordon and Gotch men's handicap: E. Neame 1, G. Ellis 2, L. Armstrong 3. Gordon and Gotch women's handicap; N. Drapple 1. R. Sadler 2, M. Grigor 3. Sack race, women: Mrs L. Watson 1. Sack race, men: L. Novelty race: D. Fraser 1, Miss Grigor 2. Gordon and Gotch married men's handicap: J. Foley 1, T. Ritchie 2. Wheelbarrow race: Mrs Ellis and L. Watson 1, E. Andrews and D. Fraser, jun. 2.' Married women's race: Mrs Ritchie I, Mrs Ellis 2, Mrs Jones 3. Three-legged race: Miss Grigor and L. Armstrong 1, Miss Smith and E. Neame 2. .
Youths' and vistiors* handicap: Roberts i, Povey 2. Departmental relay: Publishing department (K. Bradbury, L. Armstrong, J. O'Neil, R. Fisher) 1. Mr Mortimer, the manager, presented the prizes to the winners.
