■ MOLYNEUX DREDGES launching of pontoons delayed [THE PRESS Special Service.] DUNEDIN, March 7. Enquiries made by telephone at Alexandra to-night show that the Molyneux river is at present three inches fewer than it was on February 28. The effect of this position is that the likelihood of launching the dredge at Alexandra in the near future is remote and as the level of the river at Clyde is substantially the same, the dredge there is in much the same situation. It is estimated unofficially, but probably with a reasonable • degree of accuracy that a reading of at least nine feet is required on the gauge at Alexandra before any hope could be entertained of launching the dredge. On March 6 it was sft Sin. Only exceptionally heavy rains on the high country of the river watershed would produce sufficient rise for the dredges to be floated and there seems to be little likelihood of their launching before next spring, when the melting of show may be expected to bring about the desired fresh in the river.
