CITY COUNCIL EMPLOYMENT
TO THE EDITOR OT THE PRESS. Sir,—After reading the article in today’s paper entitled “Victimisation Al* leged,” I And that my entire sympathy is with Mr E. L. Hills. While Mr J. K. Archer’s defiant admission that he did cause Mr Hills to be dismissed only confirms my already poor opinion of 'Mr Archer, I myself have experienced the joys of being victimised (sacked) by one of the council foremen. Because of a trivial difference of opinion, this man sacked me, alleging that my work was unsatisfactory, although I had been employed by the council continuously for 18 months, and this same foreman had on two different occasions given me extra employment because of my satisfactory work, , Although I have for the last 25 years been a staunch official supporter of the Labour party, a member of the Labour Representation Council, and assistant organiser for Mr W. Denham, now M.P, for Invercarglll.l wish to put it on record emphatically that I will not vote for Mr Archer.—Yours, gtd A. L. TURNER. March 6, 1936, t‘T am sorry that Mr Turner is not going to vote for me,” said Mr J.’ K. Archer, when asked ; to continent on this letter, “and I suppose that in view of this fapt I must consider myself beaten.”!
