Their purpose, it was stated, was to nrmride a net so lhat they could play feS in the street. Three boys, aged eight, nine, and 11, who broke four panes, of glass belonging to the New Brighton Borough Council, were admonished. The parents were ordered to make restitution. ’The theft of goods and money valued at, £2 8s was admitted by a hoy of 16, living at Brobksicje. He was admonished and discharged, on condition that the £2 8s was repaid. Nine charges .of theft of more than £lO were preferred against two boys. One of the boys was also charged with stealing a bicycle valued at £2 and stealing 10s in money. Both admitted the thefts, the majority of which were front shop tills, one stealing the money v/hlle the other kept watch. The boy' against whom the additional charges were made was committed to the care cf the child welfare department, the Magistrate remarking that he had been; before the court on two previous occasions for theft. The other boy was placed under the supervision of the child welfare officer for two years. A boy of 17, charged with obstructing Moorhouse avenue, was fined 10s* and ordered to pay costs. He pleaded not guilty; The facts were similar to those /outlined in the Magistrate’s Court last Monday, when the City Council proceeded against a man of 21 for a similar offence. The magistrate remarked that .the practice of boys running into the roadway to* get luggage from prospective users of taxis was extremely dangerous, and it would have to be stopped.
