DRUNKEN DRIVERS
MAGISTRATE'S RULE
LICENSES TO BE CANCELLED

PALMERSTON N., February 22,
"I am going to make it a rule that, even where a man's livelihood depends on driving his car, his license will be cancelled in every case," said Mr J. Stout, S.M., when a plea was made by a solicitor on behalf of p man who was convicted for the second time on a charge of being 'intoxicated while in charge of a car. "These cases are becoming far too prevalent," added the magistrate. "The sooner this is understood the betterThere are far too many accidents and far too many drunken motorists." The accused was Ivan Percival Alexander Ross, aged 36, of Eketahuna. He pleaded guilty to being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a car in Main street. He was fined £l3 and his license was cancelled. An order was made that a license was not to be issued for two years.
