BLENHEIM, February 22.
The annual meeting of the Blenheim Amateur Operatic Society was held last evening, and was presided over by Mr F. C. Carver. A motion of sympathy was past withs the relatives of Dr. J. F. Bennett and Mrs Bennett, and was carried in silence.
The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Dr. R. Noble-Adams; vice-presidents, Mr A. E. Scantlebury and Mr C. C. Dix; honorary treasurer, Mr F. C. Carver; honorary auditor, Mr L. J. Gane (reelected); committee, Mrs E. Beid and Messrs A. M. Thomson and A. M. Diamond. it was unanimously decided that a picnic should be held, ana that all members should be circularised to obtain their support. Mr and Mrs G. H. Gray, Mrs Enrol Reid, Mrs K. Knocker, and Mr E. J. Brammall were elected life members of the society, in recognition of their services.
Agricultural and Pastoral Association At a committee meeting of the Marlborough Agricultural and Pastoral Association, the president (Mr J. F. Beamsl6y) presiding, it was reported that during a canvas of the district ot the annual sheep drive, endeavours had been made by members to.enrolVnew members, and they had met with a very good response. The canvas has not yet been finished. The members enrolled so far were:— Messrs J. W. Allen, H. E. Squire, A W. Sauire, A. J. Dowling, A. R. Wooding, R Tarrant, H. Cooke, W. J. Kenntngfon, E. L. Good, Rollason (2), M. Wiffen, F R Smyth, M. Parsons, L. Anderson. W. Parsons, R. Walker, E. H. Williams, and W. B. Carrick. The New Zealand Meat Producers' Bpgrd wrote about the recent lamb competition, and congratulated the association upon the standard attained by its members. It was said that although the championship shield might not be won, the local effort was helping to give a great fillip to the lamb industry.
Havelock Golf Club At the annual meeting of the Havelock Golf Club, the following officers were elected for the ensuing year:— Pitron, Mr G. H. Brownlee; president, Mr W. E. Clarke; vice-presidents. Messrs H.H.White, W.H.Marriott, W. J. Brownlee, and W. Garrigan, and Dr. C."S. Camtrell; secretary and treasurer, Mr I. Horton; committee, Mesdamcs Horton, Clark, and Buckman, Misses T. Slowey and B. Hardy, and Messrs J. Hardy, G. Leper, W. S. B. Buckman, and W. Orsman: club captain, Mr G. Leper. • The subscription for the year was fixed at 10s, and it was decided that the club should affiliate with the New Zealand Golf Association. Miss B. Le Compe and Messrs F. H. Horton and T. Robinson were elected members.
Kenepuru Road Board At a meeting of the Kenepuru Road Board, it was decided to impose a tax of 2s 8d on all dogs in the board's district for the financial year of J 936-37. It was mentioned that several settlers were in favour of a dog tax.
