WELLINGTON, February 23. <n«s following is the Dominion Ob■ervatory's special weather forecast fsr Canterbury:— Moderate to fresh north-east winds. Weather mainly fair, warm and hazy, but some scattered rain ffthe ranges, and later extending to coastal areas. Seas moderate.

Weather unsettled in western districts from Taranaki southwards, with scattered rain. Elsewhere fair at first but cloud increasing: generally* *"* rain developing in most districts. Temperatures warm. A slight anti-cyclone has been cresting the North Island to-day, while an extensive and cosnplex , depression is advancing over the Tajtman Sea.

(New Zealand waters)— Slight to moderate but rising south of Cape Etmont and in the Cook and Foveaux Straits areas. Eastern Tasman Sea- Moderate to strong northerly winds, with moderate to rather rough teas.

CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER

A general improvement in the weather took place during the weekend, and" the maximum temperature Wis 70.4 degrees. A fresh easterly breeze blew for most of the time, and when the sun shone through the cJeuds the days were hot.
