OFFICIAL FORECASTS

[THE PRESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, February 21. The fallowing is the Dominion Observatory's special weather forecast for Canterbury:— Winds variable, with easterlies predominating. Weather dull, wfth low cloud or in places fog. Further showers or misty rain probable. Seas rather rough to rough, with an easterly swell. Improving to-morrow inland. The following Is the Dominion foreeast:— < Weather fair to fine In western and far southern districts of the South Island, elsewhere still cloudy to overcast with mist or fog in places. Further rain probable, with some scattered heavy falls in the central parts of the North Island. Conditions improving .temporarily, .however,, tomorrow, in most districts. Pressure is still relatively low over and east ofHhe North Island, while a slight anti-cyclone extends across the Tasman Sea on to southern New Zealand. Winds—Moderate and variable over the northern half of the North Island, elsewhere moderate to 1 strong southerly to south-easterly prevailing. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Rough south of Castlepoint and in the Cook Strait area, elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate south-east to southerly winds. Seas moderate. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER There were occasional very light showers of rain, with a moderate southwest wind, in Christchurch yesterday. The day was much warmer than most days of the week, the maximum temperature recorded being 69.2 degrees. At 1 o'clock this morning a light \ easterly wind was blowing, accom- \ panied by a light drizzle. The temperature was 37 degrees. » The ' barometer, rising slowly, registered 30.01 in.
