TO THE EDITOR, 07 THE PRESS. Sir.—ln reply to "Jumbuck's" letter of February 21, wherein he states «-that, in-spite of the statements of the. i chairman of the New Zealand RefrigI ierating Company and myself, he still J maintains that 30 per cent, of lambs J entering freezers are sired by Down I rams, no one is disputing the percent- * age sired by Down rams, and. as far j as I am aware, the chairman's statei ment was to the effect that only 10. { to 15 per cent, of Canterbury lambs I could oe graded as Down. 'lf a { Down grade was established it would jifcave to be something "special" or better than our present-day standard of } first quality grade if it was to achieve j its object. Also, the fact of a lamb having been sired by a Down ram does not necessarily infer that it would make that grade.—Yours, etc., FRAYBENTOS. February 21, 1936. t
