SUPPORT GIVEN TO WINTER EXHIBITION .(OPICUL TO TBI PBXSS.) TIMARU, February 21. A decision to give hearty support to the winter exhibition and show project, at Timaru was made at a meeting of the provincial executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union tc-day.- Mr C. Ley presided. A letter was received from the Automobile Association (South Canterbury) saying that the reason for the difference in the price of petrol in Christchurch and Timaru was due to Timaru being a secondary port. The Director-General for Agriculture Wrote regarding the transfer^ culture'' in"Timaru,' saying" mat. . JUr ,' Stafford would be, replaced by an officer who would be initiated into his (Mixes in Timaru by Mr Stafford ber f6re the new officer-began his duties in irrigation work. :'. The secretary (Mr A. B. Struthers) said the new officer, Mr G. Leech, was a good man, who would be willing to visit branches to give addresses. It was decided to send a letter oi appreciation to Mr Stafford for his services and to send a letter welcoming Mr Leech. The secretary - reported that. the re-cent-field "day at Pleasant Point had been' a success, but he thought it would be a good idea if farmers could be induced to enter in a competition similar to those conducted in Ellesmere and Mid-Canterbury. The ftiatter was referred to the branches for consideration.
