Mrs and Mrs B. E. H. Tripp £orielton") spent the weekend at Tekapo. Mr J. Malihg and Dr. T. Malmg (Cteistchurch) were their guests Mrs Charles White (Wellington), who was the guest Of Mrs Walter Raymond (Park lane), has left for the Franz Josef Glacier. Mrs Rogers, Who has been staying with her daughter, Mrs R Dossor (Park lane), has returned to Palmer1' H. Cossins (Craighead Street). Mrs D. Unwin (Irvine street), and Mrs K. de Castro (Sealy street) have returned from a holiday spent MLss Violet Livingstone, who was the guest of Mrs A. E. Kerr ("Belmont," Cave), has returned to Dunedin. Miss Turnbull (Christchurch) is staying/with Mrs J. E. P. Cameron ( ' C 2S"p. ) Ai ilworthy (Gordon's Valley) has returned from a short visit to Christchurch, Mils Elizabeth Ritchie, Who' was staying With Mrs W. T. Ritchie (Te Tawa), has returned to Duhedln. Mrs T. W. Lynch (Church street) is visiting Dunedln.

Mrs J. H» Reynolds presided over a food attendance of members at the ebruary meeting of the WalmairiPapanui branch* .Members stood m silence as a -mask of respect to the memory Of our late Kthg, and also the late Mrs J. S. Neville. The president reported that the children's Christmas party had been a great success. A letter of thanks will be sent to the Rev. E. a. qsmersfor his co-operation. It was decided to link the branch in membership of the Crippled Children's Society* in the president's name* Mrs Gftrret gave an outline of the proposed junior division, and this was t4ken up wholeheartedly by the members for consid-* eration. During the afternoon an instructive demonstration on raffia cake basketmaking was given by Mrs Reynolds. Results Of the afternoon's competitions were as follows:—-Rope mat, Mrs Qreehsiade 1, Mrs stevettsj; flowers, Mrs O. E. T. Hill 1, Mrs Drury 2. The competition for next meeting Will be one pot of raspberry jam, and a tumbler of flowers. Roll call, tins for humpties. During the afternoon two new members Were elected, JThe hostesses were Meadames Drury, Dephoff and Miss Comer.

Miss Henderson presided at the usual fortnightly meetlhg of the Christchurch nrahch of the Women's Christian Temperance union. Votes of sympathy were passed with the reia r tiyee of the lite Mrs J, s. Neville and Mr Frederick Alley". The following committee Was elected to organise a cake, produce, and ice" cream stall for the combined garden party, to be held at the residence of Mrs A. S. Adams, Wairarapa terrace, ffendaltott, at the end.of this month:— Mesdames Miller, Adkins, Simcox, Hale, COOper* WOod, and Day> Misses Henderson, Jordon, Jewell, and whyte. A temperance fact was read. The president welcomed two visitors, Mrs Wilson and Major Battersby, who gave an intcsting sketch of her work in South Africa, where she has. been Stationed in different hospitals for the last eight years. Members were reminded of the women's day of prayer, to be held at St. John's schoolroom on the last Friday Of this month, it Was decided that the next meeting at .which Francis Wlliarti Day will be celebrated should take the form of a social to welcome the Misses M. B, and W W Lovell-Smith.
